Situation Speculation

Nefertiti vs. Bella

Is Ankhet witnessing a shocking breakup? Say it isn’t so! They made such a cute couple and fueled so many adolescent fantasies (Mal keep it in your pants!). Long time allies Nefertiti and Bella are looking to have some bad blood between them. I suggest a mud-wrestling match, just wanted to put that out there.

The last issue of TAG consisted of an article from Nefertiti under her pen name Busty Russell and in it she called Bella "Loyal to a fault" and stated "The funny thing about Bella's remark here is that Nefertiti claims she lied to Hey Clown because Bella told her to. Now Bella seems to be telling another story. What a tangled web we weave when we first attempt to deceive!" Now, I hate to throw around the word catty, but... well.... seems I just did, oops.

Then we have the thread 'Know It All's Judgment' where Bella seemed to join in making fun of Nefertiti, case of a woman scorned eh? Come now Bella, maybe its time to let things go? Bella pointed out Nefertiti’s overreaction caused a "few chuckles" then made a comment about "Ankhet wide PMS" which can be taken as being solely directed at Nefertiti. Now, to be fair, there was a bit of a rush to see who could point out the chuckles first in that case. Nef, don’t change a thing, everyone says. Every village needs an idiot, but between you and Mal, we love the Idiot by committee. Hey though, might take a moment to point out, the village idiot can’t help it, but it seems Bella jumped into bed with Nef there... metaphorically sadly. Now what might that make you?

Let's not forget Bella’s snappy reply in the TAG thread of, "Actually it would be best to ask the writer Bella, who has yet to write the article" in response to her suggestion to Altair to ask EA about his interview. Now we all breathlessly await Nef’s biting response to this barb, but perhaps she’s decided to let it go. Wait a sec, Nef let something go? That’ll be the day…

So what do we all think? Has the Light gone out on the Bella and Nefertiti alliance? If so, which one will come out on top? Heaven forbid, but may we politely suggest a topless mud wrestling match? Or at the very least a bit of a comment from both Alpha Females here?

Perhaps some couples counseling would help? EA maybe you could mediate this sadly burst bubble with a bit of old world wisdom. Who knows, maybe these two star-crossed gals can settle back into what we all have come to know and accept and expect.
If not, I can only imagine what things will be like WITHOUT a Nefertiti/Bella alliance.

Say it aint so!

An Q and A with the disciple pakhet

by Bella

First off, I must apologize in the delay of getting this interview done. As you will see in the following article, pakhet references events from a few weeks back, which were on-going at the time the interview was conducted. But, better later then never I say!

If you were to compile a list of the most well-known and active disciples, pakhet would most definitely be on it. She has been an active member of the Ankhet community, long before I started playing and is never afraid to chime in on community debates or issues.

However, pakhet may be most well known as being one of the best disciples the community has in terms of welcoming new players and making them feel comfortable within the game. She is passionate about welcoming – and helping – new players to Ankhet, and in my conversations with players many have named her as playing a vital role in their sticking with the game, and thus joining our community.

Being such a well known and important disciple, I wanted to conduct an interview with pakhet and get her thoughts and insights towards Ankhet, and its community.

Q: What do you like most about Ankhet?

A: I don't believe can speak to things I most like about Ankhet because I can honestly say that the oracles have put together something truly special when they designed and implemented their vision called Ankhet. As one who was involved in another vision called Badde Manors and a player of previous games of this genre, I know that it isn't easy to take a vision, conceptualize it, and implement it in a way that is organized, well thought out, and given the attention to detail that is displayed here in Ankhet. So, to choose something I most like would be to diminish another portion. I think Ankhet is well balanced with its differing quests, enigmas, pathways, and political discussions that there is something here for most all that are up for a challenging, entertaining past-time.

Q: What do you like least about Ankhet?

A: Frankly there isn't much I dislike about the game of Ankhet. One thing that I have always been concerned about is the cultivation and development of the new disciple. Some of us feel that a new player shouldn't be coddled or spoon-fed however to completely ignore a new disciple and allow them to wander around aimlessly in a place as complex as Ankhet is just as bad in my opinion.

Q: Has the game changed a lot in the time you have been playing? In your opinion have these changes been positive or negative?

A: Well I started as a new disciple on 11 Payni 2755 02:53. So yes there have been many changes but most have been positive such as the wonderfully new areas and content that were released over time. If you asked me what I found to be negative during my tenure here I would have to point to the many disciples that we have lost over that same period. We have a special community and I mourn the loss of each we lose.

Q: If you could change one thing about the game what would it be? Why?

A: I think the one thing I would like to see changed is the time period that Chuma restocks his rare items. I understand that the Oracles were probably attempting to achieve a bit more with this particular situation in the game but I think things might be a bit more interesting if the time period for having and holding and obtaining the items were a bit more random.

Q: What is your take on the current political situations going on in the community?

A: Taking a look at the underworld where all the political discussion supposedly takes place there are the threads discussing the multiple Kauket killings and Hey Clowns attack with regard to Ra-O-Vakh and Nefertiti. I made my position concerning Hey Clown's tutoring of a new disciple in the amount of 292,000 favour clear in the thread entitled "Hey Clown, Ra-O-Vakh and Nefertiti". I believe mass tutoring a new disciple has to be treated differently then mass tutoring a disciple who is experienced and has already gained levels on their own. Post #13 in the Nefertiti thread in the underworld posted 24 Payni 2756 16:12 is pretty much how I feel about this sort of attack. In the case of Nefertiti I believe that lessons were learned. I think Nefertiti might be a bit more careful announcing her status with the gods and I think that Hey Clown learned that the majority of the community doesn't care if you call desecrate a "superdox" or an attempted wipe out of one's account the consequence is serious.

Q: How do you feel about the high amounts of Kauket killing? How do you think that should be dealt with?

A: I'm not happy about the Kauket killings however I know that mistakes happen and focus can be lost when one is pointing and clicking away. I think the community is still working out how to deal with repeat offenders but I feel that we are on our way to coming up with a equitable solution. I think that since we have a disciple sit out for a day if they kill Kauket early I would have no problem multiplying that day by the number of Kauket killings for repeats within a year's time. So for example if a disciple has killed Kauket early 3 times he is laked for three days.

Q: Have you ever said or done anything within the game that you now regret?

A: Of course I have regrets, but those actions and words are in the past. I learned valuable lessons from them and in so doing I hope I have grown.

Q: Do you think the community/game is newbie-friendly?

A: No, I have had many conversations with new players and because the game is so rich and complex they are often at a loss to know what to do, where to go, how to do what has become second nature to those of us who have been involved for a longer period of time. I would like to suggest a Mentor a new disciple program. I think it would be worth a great deal to our community by helping new players get started and pointing them in the proper directions so that they can become self sufficient and contributing disciples instead of being overwhelmed and leave.

Q: Any final thoughts or comments you want to leave with the reader?

A: Yes I would like to publicly thank the Oracles for their hard work and our playground. You guys rock. I would also like to thank the TAG team for the opportunity. Thanks
