Reaping Mod #3
By: The Eye

The first portion of Mod 3 is alive and kicking. This installment added a new area and adventures that are only available during the Reaping Season. Now, for a change, the Water Merchant is actually someone you want to see. For a fee of fifty Anima he’ll open up the Nomad’s Bazaar. This new area is the focal point of the Reaping mod and comes with a pair of new merchants and the Summoner’s Circle. In the circle players can battle progressively harder beasts for the chance at leader board glory. Right now, according to the new annals category “Beast Slayers”, Freya has the lead with an impressive 25 kills. Ozymandias and Ceolacanth round out the top three with 23 and 22 kills respectively. Thus far we’ve had no reports of artifacts to be found here, but that’s okay. The Bazaar has merchants for that!

The Heathen Merchant wants your rare items. In exchange he offers an impressive array of artifacts and buffs. Included among his wares is a form of Riddler’s Wine that works on those annoying Kuk Harlequins, a new sword that adds a little zing to your hits, and a sip of Mead that seems to permanently raise several stats. Also offered, for the meager price of a Lotus Potion, is a vial of Titan’s blood. What effect this might have remains a mystery to this reporter. Thins really heat up when you check out the Scorpion Marked Tent. Inside you’ll meet a follower of Selket who, aside from fueling rumors of a Path of Selket, wants your Favour and she’s not cheap. With prices ranging from one to four million, these items are not easy to come by. Among her wares we find the newest Ankh, a golden one. While the effects remain uncertain, it’s worth noting that Flor Venenosa (Iron Maiden) has broken the level 75 cap and is sitting pretty at 80. Thus far she is the only one to have accomplished this impressive feat.

According to the Oracles, the Deluge will be the next season enhanced by Mod 3.

Blogs!?
By: The Whisperer

Ankhet now has its own blogs on Myspace and LiveJournal. Apparently a promotional stunt by the Oracle of Thebes, we’ve been told that there will be “blog exclusive” hints and spoilers posted there. With new disciples trickling in, how successful these blogs will be remains to be seen.

Module Three!
By: The King

Mod 3. The mere mention of these two syllables has caused eager disciples to foam at the mouth with anticipation. The first teaser for Mod 3 was released by The Oracle of Thebes on 22 Epeiph 2755 at 10:39, and ever since disciples have been speculating as to what Mod 3 will contain. The first teaser contains an old nomad telling the disciple about a land beyond Selket’s desert. Not much is known about this place, but as the old man says, “Some say it’s the origin of the desert witch’s magic. Others say that when it burns the kin of Menthu emerge to make offerings to their hateful gods. I have even heard tales of a great brass city of the djinn and genies.” The teaser ends with the old man telling the disciple to not squander his youth and to chase after this land.

Since the first teaser, three more have been released. Teaser #1 brought promises of at least two new Annals categories, at least two new artifacts inspired by em’s LDS contest, new quests at the Shrine of Atum, specific seasonal effects and encounters, and more merchants. One wants millions of favour, and another wants some rare items. Also, the names of some new areas were given out. These include the Distant Wasteland, the Floodplain, the Nomad Encampment, and a City of Brass. The second teaser gave us the possibility of challenging Tey and Almothi, and kicking Timbo the Foul. Also, there will be Dao Gladiators and Champions to fight.

The third teaser is the one that had everyone and their grandmother talking and speculating. This teaser introduced us to “Satet, Scion of Selket”, a merchant. A Path of Selket has been talked about since the early days of Ankhet, and it’s finally a reality. Whether disciples will be able to follow it is another question, but it definitely exists. This teaser inspired many disciples in the LDS abilities-creating contest to create some abilities for the Path of Selket. Many disciples are speculating that one of the new Annals categories will be for the Path of Selket. Mod 3 will probably be the biggest and best Mod yet. Because of the scope of Mod 3, it’s going to be released in 3 parts, each part involving a season. The Reaping part of Mod 3 has recently been released. Included in this part are new Nomad enemies in the Eastern Desert and a revamp of the Dominion Vault. The main area of Mod 3.1 is the Nomad’s Bazaar. Found after searching the Eastern Desert, the Bazaar has a Summoner’s Circle, Heathen Merchant, and Satet’s tent. The circle lets you take on Beasts of increasing difficulty for 30 anima each. A new Annals category has been added for Beast Slayers, and the disciples who slay the most Beasts get a spot on the Annals. Inside the Heathen Merchant’s tent, you can trade your rarest items for even rarer ones. Shimmering Tonics, Talon Cusps, Lotus Potions, and Scale Necklaces are all tradable for fantastic new items. Satet wants your favour, but not a paltry thousand or two. She wants millions of favour for her items. For 1 million favour you can get a Puzzle Box, which gives random rare items. For 2 million you can get a Book of the Dead, which gives various death-related benefits. For 3 million favour, you get a key that presumably unlocks the Brass City of the Djinn, Genies, and Daos. For 4 million favour, you get a Golden Ankh. No one knows what this does yet, but this reporter personally thinks that it lets you past level 75.

Even after the first part of Mod 3, more questions remain. Will we be able to advance past level 75? What will the other Annals categories be? What’s in the Brass City? Only time will tell. Stay tuned to TAG for all the Mod 3 information and updates.

An Army of One (is often outnumbered)
By: The Eye
The disciple Coelacanth, generally believed to be the reincarnation of Euplicitous Arophram, seems to have a proclivity for biting off more than he can chew. The most recent chapter in Coelacanth Vs. The World was sparked by an apparently random duel slaying of the Chipdoc (Light). Nefertiti (N: Light) was quick to defend her inactive companion, plunging Coelacanth into negative anima. A difficult man to keep down, Coelacanth escaped the Underworld and went on to slay Nefertiti, Chipdoc, and another member of Light. His victory was short lived. For the second time Aer Capello (Shadows) rose to defend his beleaguered allies. Following a series of abortive Dooms, he successfully condemned Coelacanth who lost over 400,000 favour from the attack. Capello was joined in his efforts to neutralize Coelacanth by members of Light, Eidolon, and fellow Shadows. It was readily apparent that Coelacanth had forgotten his paddle and was up an unpleasant creek.

Later some would claim that the use of Condemn would lead to escalated violence. Hindsight is usually pretty accurate and Coelacanth’s retort would be nothing short of berserk. On the morning of Thoth 8th, between 10:58 and 12:09 he would populate the Heralds log with eighty entries of duels, dooms, and mayhem. Several victims, including Aer Capello, Nefertiti, and Akhenuraeus (Shadows) were killed multiple times in duels as the ravening Coelacanth raised them with Phoenix Fire only to kill them again. He topped the staggering offensive off with a pair of Condemns, one successful, targeting Akhenuraeus. In all there were eight victims and twenty slayings. If his intention was to go on the most violent single disciple rampage in Ankhet history, he succeeded. If his intention was to break the will of his adversaries, he failed miserably. All too soon he was back in the underworld and being massively diminished. Since the attack he has been kept in the underworld and Obviated, an action that prevents a disciple from initiating duels daily.

The conflict and controversy continued in the Underworld as Xerxes felt that Coelacanth had been ganged up on. He asserted that Aer Capello’s condemn raised the bar and the scope of the altercation. Xerxes would go on to partially restore and release Coelacanth, but that wouldn’t last. As things now stand the future is uncertain. There have been no attempts at negotiation and Coelacanth has stated that he can see no reason to “stay his hand” if he is released again. In the meanwhile, the two time desecrator Miraj Adham Fathi appears to be left to his own devices. Following Miraj’s inexplicable desecration of Mrs. Dolly Levi Gallagher, Coelacanth had demanded that Miraj abandon the path of Hathor or suffer the consequences. It was a notion that gained considerable support. Now, with the improbable sheriff being lynched by the posse, Miraj Adham Fathi appears to be upward bound.

Ask Miss Mummy
Dear Miss Mummy,
I’m confused. What does it mean when it words show up on the left cartouche?
Signed,
Potion Popper

Well, Popper, there are several items and actions that generate long lasting effects. The various vials, spells like Fury, and even some NPCs can bless or curse a disciple with these. When a word appears below your title on the left side cartouche it means that you are currently experiencing an effect. Some effect sources, like the vials, only allow you to have one effect at a time. Others, such as Fury and Shadowplay, can be stacked. Just be careful! Not all effects are pleasant. You can find yourself stupefied or diseased too!

Tip of the Week
Dominions are a great way to interact and learn from other disciples. They offer access to special areas, share a communal anima pool, and membership often bestows special bonuses based on the path of the founder. Going it alone can be rewarding or even unavoidable if you’re on an evil path like Ammut or Menthu. If you’re not, you might want to look around, ask some questions, and if you can’t find a dominion that suits you, form one!

Ammut: Emau (40)
Anubis: Alacar (30, Iron Maiden)
Bast: Smooth_Pappa (31, Eidolon)
Hathor: Xerxes (70, N: Imperial Conquest)
Menthu: Pakhet (53)
Sekhmet: Flor Venenosa (80, Iron Maiden)
Thoth: Parislan (49, Shadows)
Dominion: Shadows (108,745,000)
Beast Slayers: Freya

The Favour merchant from Mod 3 had had an impact. Couple with the recent battles and the usual conversions, the field remains unstable. With several Nomarch still well below even the 75 mark, ambitious players could find themselves fulfilling a certain Atum quest ahead of schedule. As a side note, the relatively new Imperial Conquest makes its first appearance in the wake of Chipdoc’s misfortunes.
