A Magnifico Intervention
By: The Eye

After three weeks confined to the Underworld for desecrating Dolly, things came to a head when Miraj Adham Fathi was freed by newcomer Sammy. Coelacanth (Iron Maiden) took exception and enforced his will on the evening of Thoth 22nd. Also caught in the onslaught with Miraj and Sammy were em, misconception (Iron Maiden), pakaran (eidolon), and Kendaer (Shadows).

Sammy then renamed to Amheh and in an attempt to emulate Coelacanth (Iron Maiden) began his own slaughter. This culminated in the desecration of the inactive player Why (eidolon). Under the auspices of the Eye of Menthu, and in the space of just 4 minutes, Amheh was also responsible for the deaths of every Disciple in the Vérité, eidolon, Shadows, and Light dominions. After several days of failed attempts to keep him in the Underworld, he was finally desecrated by Roland the Black (Shadows; formerly Snigu Ka Tet).

Upset at the half-hearted community action against Roland (Shadows) for using Desecrate, the Iron Maiden and Imperial Conquest dominions launched an unprecedented attack against practically everyone else. The first strike, “23:18 - Freya cast doom on Jumsy for 7 vitality” was followed by five Heralds pages of attacks including five undoings and thirty-nine judgments.

Late to the party, and ostensibly more upset at the Intervener’s capricious silencing rather than any of the devastating attacks, Coelacanth (Iron Maiden) then almost single-handedly enacted revenge and declared a truce.

In the days following there has been an unsteady peace in Ankhet.

Mod 3 Recap
By: The Bear

On 25 Thoth, 2756, the Oracle of Thebes announced that Mod 3 is now complete. Most content in Mod 3 is divided up between Seasons; the highest level Disciples, who are willing to make certain sacrifices, are able to change the Season for everyone.

Brumal, the base Season, has no new content at all. All other Seasons have new areas, which can be found by adventuring in the Eastern Desert. Deluge has the Distant Floodplain, on which Disciples may meet Dracosphinxes and fight them for crests, as well as the Nomadic Sphinx, Tovah, who challenges the quick to answer.

The Reaping season has the Nomads' Bazaar, at which Disciples may buy a variety of exceptionally expensive items. Among these are the Levin Blade, which causes additional damage with every strike, the Brass Key, unlocking a new area; the Book of the Dead, allowing mastery over death which manifests itself in various ways, and the Golden Ankh, which permits one to advance past Level 75. Lastly, the Puzzle Box contains a variety of rare items. The function of other items in the Bazaar is not known to this reporter.

Newest of all, the Burning season gives all Disciples additional potency, which is seductive. However, it also allows the brave to explore the Distant Wasteland, one of the few areas in which monsters apparently become harder as necessary to challenge even the most advanced Disciples. Some few Disciples have found the Eye of Menthu, which when opened locks the game into a Burning-like season and renders Dominions horrifically vulnerable to Defeat. We may pray that it will never again be open, but this seems hopelessly optimistic. At least one new item in Burning, the Bone Ankh, also exists, though its function is obscure at this time.

Finally, a few brave Disciples have found their way to the Path of Selket. Her Path appears to be concerned with the control of Djinn and other companions, allowing a wide variety of powers. Avatars of Selket also have access to a new attack, Undo, which has been described as like the Judgement action of Amin-Ra, but much more severe. It is not widely known what else the Path may provide, but as a Path which is apparently very difficult to gain access to, it is reasonable to assume that something makes it worth pursuing. It is interesting to consider what other Paths may still be undiscovered.

While the new Shrine of the Uninitiated quest still seems to be in the future, it looks like the Book of the Dead area talked about last issue was quietly introduced recently: The Dark Pyramid. Inside it’s rumored we’ll find a way to join the undead. Meagre compared to last edition, but here’s a few teasers:

“An iron emblem bearing the sigil of Anubis”

“Welcome, novice. My patron rewards those who make their voices heard.”

Ask Miss Mummy
Dear Miss Mummy,
I’m being asked to donate anima to some eye or something. What should I do?
Signed,
Eye Opener

Well, Eye, when you’re told that “a season of carnage will follow” and “dominions will tremble” if the eye opens you probably want to make sure you read everything so you know what you’re getting yourself into. Others may not take kindly to what you’re about to do.

Tip of the Week
Still haven’t gotten Imperishable Ka yet?
